what is an independent dc voltage source?
what is an independent dc voltage source? An ideal voltage source is a two terminal device that can provide constant voltages with zero internal resistance. It can also supply or absorb infinite amount of power. Practically, the voltage source reduce their voltages if the load is too much demanding in terms of power. But it does not represent any physical device. Its merely an approximation and makes analysis easier of many complex circuits.
In ideal independent dc voltage source the current may flow in any direction. The current can be determined solely by the circuit components connected to the source. Depending upon the direction of current through the source we can decide either the power is being delivered or absorbed. This type of voltage source can be replaced by a battery as shown in the figure below.
Here is the graph of ideal voltage source. It can be seen the voltage remain constant at all values of time t.
General form of an independent dc voltage source
The general form is given below
VNAME N+ N- DC Value
where VNAME is the name of voltage source
N+ is the positive node
N- is the negative node
Value is the voltage that this source can supply.
For example
Vs 3 0 DC 10
it is the DC voltage source which is connected between node 3 and 0 and have value =10v.
Practical DC voltage source
In such voltage sources, the voltages start decreasing with increase in load current. This behavior can be shown by connecting a series resistor with the source as shown below.
Independent AC voltage source
This follows the same pattern as a DC voltage source but it provides alternating voltages that vary pattern with a constant velocity.
What is an ideal current source?
It is a two terminal element and the current flowing through the device is specified at every instant of time t. Current is independent of the voltage source providing it. It can also provide and absorb power which depends on the polarity of the voltage source.
Basically all sources can be classified into two main categories: periodic and non-periodic. Such sources can be described by exponential or time dependent polynomials. Their graphs are shown below
Independent current source
An ideal current source is a two-terminal device that can provide a constant current that will always keep its value and has an infinite internal resistance. In real life, current sources can see their currents reduced if the load is too demanding and have a limited capacity to provide or absorb current.
An independent current source is an energy source that pushes a constant progression of electrons through an electrical circuit paying little mind to the heap introduced to it. All in all, a 1 amp current source will keep a current progression of 1 amp through its terminals in the event that it’s anything but an open circuit or short out as a heap. The image for the current source and its I-V bend is displayed in figure below. The current source image should be related to in any event its bearing of current stream stamped and a worth or variable for its current. Another approach to think about a current source is of a constant speed engine driving a water siphon. The constant speed engine will consistently convey a constant volume of water per unit time through the pump. This is similar to a constant progression of electrons per unit time.
